As I posted yesterday, this week is going to be a little different. I will be posting about things that I am thankful for. Here is yesterday’s post if you missed it “GIVING THANKS TO THE LORD”.
I am so thankful for God’s Word – my Bible! This is a Book that is jam packed with wonderful stories of ordinary – yet wonderful people that were called to do extraordinary things for God. The Bible is my instruction Book, my Encouraging Book, my Prayer Book, My Light of my day, and so, so many more things. I have read the Bible all my life, but not until the last few years have I really gotten into the reading and understanding of what God is trying to say to me. When I began, I prayed to God that He would help me understand what He wanted me to. I wanted to listen to it on my way to work, so I downloaded the Bible App and it came to life! Click the link … it’s free! It was amazing to me how much of an impact it made on me and my heart and spirit! It was so wonderful and so exciting! I made a commitment to read – listen – through the entire Bible. It started in March of 2013 and finished in October 2013. It was an amazing journey! God answered my prayer about understanding the Bible. He reveals new things to me all the time… every day! If you have not read the Bible through, pray about it, and ask God to help you. He will! He is faithful!
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Next, I am so thankful for music! As I have stated before, I have sung since before I was born. My mother sang in the church choir and my dad was always the Music Minister or Interim Pastor at every church we went to. So, I have been drenched with all kinds of music all my life. The good old hymns are some of the best! I do love the new Praise and Worship music too! But the old hymns are my foundation! I love most any music that praises my Lord and Savior – Jesus! Music courses through my veins! I was talking to someone today at church about how a musician or someone that sings or loves music like me has a “juke box brain”. We can sometimes hear two notes of a song and know what it is. I don’t understand how that works, but I know it works! It happens to me all the time. Even songs I have not heard in years and years! I LOVE MUSIC!
Praise the Lord!
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Something else I LOVE and am so thankful for is my dachshund boy. He is a rescue baby and so precious to me. My dad, even calls him their “granddog”. I have no other children but him. My boy is 12 almost 13 and his name is Zuckie. Zuckie is a nickname for his real name is “Zuckert” which means Sweetie in German. When I rescued him (or he rescued me) he was named “Scruffy” and that didn’t fit at all. He was the sweetest boy, so I had to name him something very fitting! So Zuckie it is! He is the most tender-hearted baby I have ever had. Big chocolate eyes that will melt your heart and a precious spirit that is so loyal and forgiving and so trusting. I love my Zuckie!
I have had a couple of other babies. One was a little lady of 8 and her name was Liesel. Her name means “God’s Promise”. She came to me five months after I lost my “heart dog” Meika Sue. Meika was four years old and was diagnosed with kidney disease at four years and two months. She was my little princess. I got her two months after I separated from my X-husband and she and I went through a lot together. It tore me up to lose her at such a young age to such a horrible disease! So, when my Chiropractor asked me if I was ready for another baby, I didn’t think I was yet, and there were some things we had to get through before I could adopt her daughter’s dog – which they had named Lucy. So, by July, I was able to adopt (rescue) this little red dapple stick of dynamite. I renamed her because after praying about getting her, God promised to heal my hurt in my heart from the loss of Meika, and that she did. So, Liesel stole our hearts with her sweet nature as well. She was very shy and uncertain for a few months but blossomed into a sweet, gentle little girl that still had that fiery attitude of a typical red head. I loved my Liesel!
10 For every beast of the forest is Mine,
And the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know all the birds of the mountains,
And the wild beasts of the field are Mine.
10 A righteous man regards the life of his animal,
But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
With that said about my sweet babies, you must realize that I love dogs… dachshunds to be exact! That brings me to my “dog loving” friends on Facebook. I am so thankful for the friends I have made on Facebook. They have supported me in so many ways… encouraging, laughing, crying and financially when I have had dog medical issues. They are like no other friends I have ever known. They are the most wonderful surprise that God has given in friends. It is amazing how you can feel so connected to folks you have never met or probably never will meet. But they are MY FRIENDS, and I am so thankful God crossed my path with theirs! They pray for me and my family, they have sent me beautiful cards, they have sent sweet gifts and funny things. They share their pictures and heart-warming stories of their babies and their struggles with life and love of all sorts and allow me to share with them as well. Yes, they are truly “FRIENDS” of mine, and I am forever thankful for them!
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
The Song – A Season In Your Path – Wayne Watson
Added the following portion 9-8-2023
This song…. I just listened to it again for the 1st time in … well, probably 8 years or so. I did get to see Wayne Watson when he came to Beaumont, Texas years ago. He sang this song too. His voice is like velvet.
As he is singing about how fortunate he has been to be in a season of someone’s path, I have been blessed with many friends in my path. I can say that God has granted me at least 4 of the finest women, as friends, that I have ever met. They all are wonderful friends and I cherish every moment that I have with each of them. They, each one, know the Lord and I love that about them. So blessed and so very thankful for them.
I will close with that for now. Tomorrow I will continue to tell you some things I am so thankful for.
In Him,
Leah
