GIVING THANKS TO THE LORD – Day 1

Estimated read time 3 min read

This writing is from several years ago… but i wanted to do the same this year since I have another website.
Enjoy! This week I am going to do something a little different since this is Thanksgiving Week. I will be writing about things I am thankful for or things to be thankful for.

Just to begin this week, I am thankful for my Lord Jesus Christ. His love, mercy, grace and goodness saved me from myself and my sins years ago and I am so thankful He kept pursuing me until I realized how much He loved me and what He did for me.

Psalm 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell[
a] in the house of the Lord
Forever.

I also want to say I am thankful for Sundays. This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! With Sunday, comes preparing for Church. Sunday School with my wonderful ladies, Worship Service with my wonderful Pastor and Worship Leader and the Congregation! My church is an awesome place to feel the love of Jesus and to be loved and welcomed by those in my church.  Thank you, Shady Oaks Baptist Church, for the love you have shown me!

Hebrews 10:25

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Today is also a day of rest (most of the time). I am thankful for the time to be able to spend with my mother and father at mealtime and just hanging out. We laugh, cry, fuss and make up, just like any family does, I suppose. My mom and dad live with me and have now for five plus years. They have been such a blessing to me in these last five years and I am eternally grateful for them and their love and dedication to each other and to our family. My Father just celebrated his 84th birthday and mom will celebrate 86 in December. They are thriving and the main thing that I am thankful for is that they Love the Lord and pointed us three kids to Him years ago.

Exodus 20:12

12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Mom had some serious health issues at the end of last year and earlier this year. God, in His infinite love and mercy gave her back to us so we could enjoy more time with her. I am so thankful for that. I know she and my dad are ready to go home to be with the Lord, but I guess I am selfish … I just want them to stay a little while longer.

Psalm 136:1-3

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!
For His mercy endures forever:

I will close this for now. Looking forward to sharing more thankfulness this week.
