CRAZY VOICE RECOGNITION SOFTWARE

How many of you out there use the Voice Recognition Software on your phone?  Well, if you do you know, as well as I do, that sometimes it doesn’t quite type the words that you say, and if you are unlucky enough … sometimes those words get “sent” before you proof the text, or email.  Oh, My Goodness… how funny it can be sometimes and then other times… well, not so funny.  Yikes!  Even though it is a bit “weird” sometimes and flat out incorrect sometimes… I still use it.  Why?  Because it is more convenient than typing – at times.

Well, I took it to a whole new level tonight. I wanted to investigate the Voice Recognition Software on my computer.  Mainly because my wrists hurt (carpal tunnel) sometimes and it would be nice to just speak the words… so I thought.  Well, I got my microphone all set up and got my computer to learn my voice.  Then I watched a video.  All well and good right?  Then comes the test… I open the software, I speak, and it actually opened a new page in Word … Victory!  Next, I began to speak words that I would normally type.  Well, this was interesting on more than one level.

First, I got a few words out and it typed them for me.  I paused and thought and spoke a few more words.  Paused and thought again and spoke a few more words.  Finally, I got a short paragraph done and I saw some things that needed corrected.  I struggled to remember the correct steps to get the correction thing going, then finally I stumbled upon it in my memory and spoke the correct phrase to start correcting errors.  Ugh!  Then if you want to correct more than one error and there are multiple occurrences of the same word, then that is another phrase and so on and so on.  Finally, I decided to forget it for tonight… too frustrating and it took entirely too long to construct a paragraph.

However, in all of that speaking and correcting and speaking again, I thought of something else.  How is it that you can think and type words faster than you can think and speak them?  That is when you are typing and not just carrying on a conversation… you know what I mean?  I sat there for a good 30 seconds before I formulated 5-6 words to be spoken so the computer would type them for me.  Now I know this is a “learned” art and possibly could be very useful to me in the future.  However, I am just not sure it is worth the time it would take to learn all of the nuances of typing one of my blog posts with the Speech Recognition Software.  So, for now, I think I will stick with the wonderful ability that God gave me to first ask God, “What would you like for me to share and type?” and secondly type with my own fingers and rest when my wrists hurt.  Maybe someday though… I will learn more about that Speech Recognition and see if it can be of more use to me.

Now you have to know there is a message that God spoke to me while struggling with all of that, right?  Well, you are absolutely right.  He did indeed whisper to my heart while I was trying to get the software to type what I wanted it to type and correct what I wanted it to correct.  And folks, isn’t it wonderful that we don’t have to have that kind of communication with God?  At least I don’t.  I can think it or speak it and God knows it.  I can cry out loud, whisper under my breath, or think it in my head and God knows!  He knows everything about me!  He created me!  Oh, my goodness I am so glad that He knows me.  He knows my laying down and rising up.  He knows my thoughts.  He knows my hurts, disappointments, things that I love, dislike, and detest.  Things that scare me and things that make me happy.  He knows what I think before I think it!  He knows every hair on my head!  He knew all of these things before I was born!  WOW!  That is so overwhelming sometimes when I think about all of that.  Something else that is overwhelming to think about is that I just typed these 5-5 ½ paragraphs in the amount of time it took me working with the software to type a short 6-8 sentence paragraph.

All of that would not be complete without mentioning one of David’s Psalms.  In Psalm 139 versus 1-6, it explains how David knew God knew him very well.  The entire Psalm is beautiful, but here are the 1st 6 versus.

Psalm 139:1-6
O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.

God has created such a masterpiece in us and we so under rate His handiwork!  The brain… we use so little of our brain and I would say most of our abilities we doubt.  He doesn’t doubt though.  He knows what we are capable of and what we can do at any given time.  He believes in us!  The Bible says that our minds cannot conceive what the Lord has planned for us.  Here is the scripture:

1 Corinthians 2:9
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”[
a

I believe we cannot conceive because our brains are so finite.  This world is finite.  It will end one day, and all will pass away and all will be made new.

Revelation 21:1-2
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John,[
a] saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

So, with all that said, I want to remind you once again, you are a masterpiece.  God has created you in a wonderful way.  The abilities that you have are wonderful and special.  He has a plan for your life and in that plan, you can use all of those wonderful abilities.  Trust in Him and His plan for your life.  Another wonderful scripture and my favorite:

Jeremiah 29:11-14
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

May God bless each of you and keep you in His tender care.  I challenge you to find those wonderful things that God has given you – your special abilities – and use them to glorify Him.  That is why He gave them to you.  Remember, He loves you very much!  After all, you are His beloved.
